Business as usual across Zimbabwe

It is business as usual in the Midlands mining town of Zvishavane with residents saying they are going about on their daily routines.

Today is just an ordinary Thursday in Zvishavane.

Going about on their day to day activities, the residents said nothing has changed to disturb their usual lifestyles.

Open shops, banks, council offices, a bustling market and even some people on their fields characterised the normal day scenario in the mining town.

In Mashonaland West, the situation is peaceful and calm with people going about their businesses as normal.

Entrepreneurs and ordinary Zimbabweans in Norton said its business as usual for them.

The situation is said to be the same in other areas across the province as Zimbabweans went about their chores as usual.

The situation is the same in Matabeleland North with Bubi district centre being a hive of activity with buses loading passengers to and from Bulawayo, while some residents were already busy at their braai stands.

The situation remains the same in all other districts in the province with a notable absence of police roadblocks in most of the highways.

Peace and tranquility has continued to prevail in various parts of Matabeleland South province with trade and commerce going on as normal in all major towns in the province.

Gwanda town's deputy mayor Councillor Albert Ndlovu urged the locals to remain calm and ensure the prevailing peace is maintained.

In the outskirts of Gwanda town, those involved in economic activities such as farming and mining said there have been no interruptions in their operations.

The situation in Mashonaland Central provincial capital Bindura is normal as most business have opened to the public while for schools and government departments it's business as usual.

Vendors who spoke to ZBC News expressed their desire to work towards the transformation of the country and their families.

Others say they have been going about their normal business since Tuesday.

The situation in Bindura has been calm as residents have been going on with their businesses.

It is also business as usual in Marondera with people going about their business.

At the government complex which houses the bulk of the government departments including the Registrar General's office, people including civil servants were going about their business with those who are regularising their identity documents queuing to be served.

Local businessman Mr Cleopas Kundiona says farmers have been coming in their numbers to buy inputs in preparation for the agricultural season.

Charles Katerera who is into timber processing says the industry is busy making its contribution to the success of ZIM ASSET.

The area between Dombotombo suburb and town which sells second hands clothes was also a hive of activity as people were busy bargaining with the sellers.

It was the same at the bus terminus as people were boarding transport to their different destinations.

There were also some activities at the district administrators' office which is housing the ZEC offices as they continued with the BVR exercise.
