RESERVE Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Gideon Gono has threatened to expose investors based in Harare but originally from Matabeleland for shunning their home provinces.
Gono said locals are shunning the region but are in the forefront of blaming government for perceived under-development.
"There are hundreds of serious investors from Bulawayo based in Harare and if need be I will expose them as I did with foreign owned industries in the country. They are shunning this area by taking their money elsewhere.
"There is no region with finer brains than Matabelelaland …' said Gono.
he was addressing a Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries conference in Bulawayo on Thursday.
He said he is struggling to force banks and businessmen to bring back the more than $200million held in offshore accounts.
"When I meet with other regional central bank governors they tell me how they are taking care of huge sums of money for Zimbabweans.
"So I say but we have liquidity challenges back home of which am personally blamed and yet there is money out there"
He said Zimbabweans are to be blamed for the liquidity crunch and not him" said Gono.
