The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Honourable Mike Bimha, will officially open the Exporters' Conference scheduled for the 2nd of October 2014, at Meikles Hotel in Harare.

The Conference will be held under the theme: "CREATING BRAND ZIMBABWE".

ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Sithembile Pilime, highlighted that the theme was motivated by the role that Nation Branding plays in promoting trade and investment.

"In an increasingly globalised world, the role of nation branding in facilitating trade and investment cannot be over-emphasised. Riding on the positive spinoffs from the successful hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly and the recent conferment of Zimbabwe as the Best Tourist Destination in 2014 by the European Union Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT), the country can maximise its potential for growth", she said.

The Exporters' Conference and Exporter of the Year Awards seek to share best practices in export business whilst providing a platform for the formulation of strategic business partnerships. The Forum provides a trade policy lobbying opportunity through dialogue among stakeholders.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. Chiratidzo Mabuwa, will be the Guest of honour at the Exporter of the Year Awards Gala Dinner to be held in the evening of the same day. The objective of the Awards is to reward export performance and inculcate an export culture.

Over 200 stakeholders from existing and emerging exporters, Government, Industry lobby organisations, Development Cooperation Partners and Trade Support Institutions will attend this event
