Despite the alarming rates of gas cylinders explosions on the residential and business central districts which sometime inure the people, Consumer Counsel of Zimbabwe has said the street corner gas dealers have been so useful to the people especially during this time of rampant electricity load shedding and asked government through the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) to allow them to operate.
Speaking during the Petrolium sector workshop organised by Zera at Rainbow Hotel, CCZ official Comfort Muchekeza said there was rampant of illegal gas deleaing which was assisting people a lot but the government made their operations problematic due to their lack of licences.
"These dealers are so transparent unlike the so called the formal dealers who takes customer's cylinder and gets in without leaving the customer out. These big dealers would tell their customer to leave the cylinders but this is not what happens with the street corner dealers who fill the cylinders in customer's presence," said Muchekeza.
"Why can't they be allowed to do business. As consumers we are happy with them."
