Turkish Airlines is expected to start flights to Zimbabwe next year once negotiations with aviation authorities are concluded, Turkish Ambassador to Zimbabwe Kadir Hidayet Eriş has said.
Mr Hidayet Eriş said this while addressing a Women in Business Breakfast Meeting held in Harare this morning that negotiations between the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe and the airline are ongoing.
"The framework is ready. There is already an agreement signed. The airline can start operating as soon as they are ready and when they have obtained aircrafts," said Mr Hidayet Eriş.
He said he will be pushing the authorities from the two countries to ensure that the airline starts operations next year.
Zimbabwe plans to increase the number of airlines operating in Zimbabwe to over 40 by 2018 . At the peak between 1999 and 2003, Zimbabwe had 34 airlines flying into the country.
