THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company yesterday launched its 2012 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair marketing campaign amid indications that at least 63 percent of available space for the event has already been taken up.
ZITF Company board's vice-chairman Mr Nyasha Zhou said next year's event would be held between April 24 and 28 and would run under the theme: "Investing locally, Reaping Globally".
"We believe more space will be taken up during the remainder of this year as most local participants have indicated they will take up larger portions," he said.
"For this year's edition occupancy stood at around 51 000 square metres out of a total 55 000 square metres, hence we are anticipating complete uptake. So far bookings stand at 63 percent of available space."
Mr Zhou indicated they were receiving positive inquiries from foreign companies.
"South Africa has already booked 400 square metres and more bookings are coming from the South Africa-German Chamber of Commerce," he said.
"There are also positive indications from traditional foreign participants such as Brazil, Pakistan and China among other countries."
The Harare launch, which was the second following a similar one in Bulawayo recently, also saw the launch of the new ZITF brand.
Also speaking at the event Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries vice president Mr Kurai Matsheza urged local companies to be proactive in seeking to re-capitalise their operations in view of delays in the completion of the various Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (Bippas).
"As captains of industry, we should be going out there and looking for equity partners - of course, while adhering to the country's requirements for 51 percent local ownership," he said.
Meanwhile, ZITF marketing manager Mrs Noma Ndlovu said the upcoming edition would constitute sector-specific exhibitions that include the A'Sambeni Africa Tourism and Travel Expo (travel and tourism),
PakPrint (packaging, publishing and printing), Scholastica (education, careers and training), and Ultim8 Home (home improvement and renovations).
According to the organisers, ZITF 2012 high- lights will include: three exclusive business days from 24-26 April, an international business conference on 25 April, a golf challenge on 26 April, the official opening on 27 April and two days for the general public on the 27-28 April.
