ZNCC business awards on cards

PREPARATIONS for this year's Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Manicaland business awards to be held on June 24 at Golden Peacock Villa Hotel have commenced with five new categories added to the list.

ZNCC regional manageress for Manicaland and Chiredzi, Perpetual Guwila, said the provincial awards were meant to motivate, encourage and applaud outstanding business entities as well as individuals who have excelled despite economic challenges bedevilling most industries in Manicaland.

Five new categories that have been added to this year's category list are Lifetime achievement award, Enterprise Development support award, Small and Medium Enterprise award, Public Enterprise award and Business person of the year award.

"It is that time of the year where we would be honouring outstanding business organisations and individuals who excelled in their business endeavours. It is our duty to recognise these particularly bearing in mind that some industries in Mutare have crumbled due to hard economic situations. We have dispatched nomination forms to business persons and stakeholders who would be part of this year's edition.

Those who did not get hold of the nominations forms should come and collect at our local offices at Office 16 in Agribank Complex. The forms should be returned to our offices for adju" she said.

She added that the name of the guest of honour would be announced in due course.

"We have added in five new categories such as Lifetime achievement award where we would be honouring an outstanding businessperson who was exemplary and stood the test of time for several years till now.

Business people and organisations will battle it out in fifteen categories which include Businessman of the year, Businesswoman of the year, Exporters of the year, Young Entrepreneur, Public Enterprise, Transporter and Logistics, ICT, Tertiary Institution and Best Bank Supporting.

Last year, Mutare transporter Tino Macharika of Tinmac Motors scooped the ZNCC Manicaland Business Person of the Year while John Masamvu was the first runner up.

Tsitsi Molly Mupfunya was the businesswoman of the year and Nancy Saungweme of Aloe Enterprise came second.

The Rural Electrification Agency won the outstanding service delivery for parastatals with Rusape Town Council and Makoni Rural District Council winning the best service excellence in local government and utilities awards.

The City of Mutare won the innovation in local government and utilities award while NetOne scooped numerous awards in the information communication technology category.

CBZ Bank won the best corporate social responsibility award.
