2016 Youth Expo rolls into life

AT least 2 000 exhibitors are expected to participate in the three day 2016 Youth Expo that rolled into life yesterday (Thursday) and is ending tomorrow.
Manica Post reported that the exhibition which is being held at Mutare Hall will run under the theme: "Tapping youth potential through opening socio-economic networks; a strategy for localizing the 10-point plan".
The expo seeks to expose the youth's potential and capacity to be part of the business initiatives of the modern local economies and as the curtains comes down on the event, an entrepreneur of the year will be chosen.
The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Mandi Chimene and the Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Patrick Zhuwao are expected to attend the expo.
MYIEE official Leonard Mukoko on Tuesday said preparations were on course, adding that over 2 000 exhibitors were expected to take part.
"We are hoping to make a change to the lives of the youths who are entrepreneurs. We have invited all the youths from all the districts of Manicaland to participate at this trade fair," said Mukoko.
He said the 2016 provincial expo would promote young entrepreneurs, Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well as promoting the formalisation of informal back-yard projects through interaction with youth-oriented development partners and the corporate world.
"The platform would create business linkages for youths within the province's value chain as well as validate youths' role in business and contribution towards the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country," Mukoko added.
Entrepreneurs are paying $5 to participate at the three day business expo where they will also compete for the top prize of entrepreneur of the year.
The eventual winner will get financial support the establishment of his or her business.
The whole event will be broadcast live on Diamond FM.
"All exhibitors will be given time on Diamond FM to tell the whole province about their business.
"There are lots of competitions as well as prizes to be won at this event.
"Entertainment from our local youths is available as well adequate security," he added.
