Bulawayo-based radio station - SKYZ Metro FM on Sunday began broadcasting, days before final deadline day.
However, the station said it was testing its signal carrier.
"Finally we have landed from Beyond the skyz! Catch us on air 100.3FM and give us feedback on our signal testing" it said on its twitter account.
SKYZ Metro FM had up to Thursday to hit the airwaves or risk losing its licence.
Chief executive officer Qhubani Moyo previously attributed the Bulawayo-based radio station's delayed launch to a pullout by funders.
The radio station, which was licensed in March last year along with seven other radio stations, failed to launch operations at the beginning of the year due to funding challenges.
According to Broadcasting Association of Zimbabwe, regulations, radio stations must launch before the expiry of 18 months.
Of the eight radio stations licensed last year, only YA FM (Zvishavane) and Diamond FM (Mutare) have commenced operations.
