Los Angeles - A mirror on which Michael Jackson wrote a note to himself on has sold for $18 750.
Over 540 items from the late Thriller hitmaker's rented mansion were auctioned off at the weekend, with the armoire, bearing a pencil-written note reading "Train, perfection March April Full out May" - believed to be a reference to the rehearsals for his 50-date London residency at The 02 arena - among the highlights of the sale.
A chalkboard from the kitchen sold for $5 000 as it featured a handwritten message from his 11-year-old daughter Paris which read "love Daddy/ I (heart) Daddy/ Smile it's for free".
Highest bids
An oriental rug where the star's body lay as paramedics tried to revive him after he collapsed in June 2009 sold for $15 360, while a small bedside table went for $5 000, more than 10 times its guide price.
Two paintings attracted the highest bids, with a watercolour by Maurice Utrillo going for $35 200 and an oil painting of a fishing village by Adelsteen Normann sold for $46 785.
According to Julien's Auction House, the total take from the sale was over $1.6m.
The headboard from Michael's bed had been pulled from the sale following a request by his mother Katherine.
