Jamaican reggae/dancehall singer Red Rat is expected to headline at a gig scheduled for the Midlands city of Kwekwe on Thursday night.
Red Rat is set to grace King Solomon's Nightclub alongside Bahamas's Pascalle, who is popularly known as the "Pop Princess" in dancehall circles.
Pascalle is at the moment making waves with her hit song titled "Freak in Me".
Red Rat, or "Double R" as he has come to be known, hogged the limelight last year with the hit single "Rise Up Zimbabwe" in which he urges Zimbabweans to remain vigilant in the face of Western interference.
Having established a strong bond with United States-based Zimbabwean producer Abra Simz and the United Kingdom-based Jusa Dementor, Red Rat has struck a chord with Zimbabwean youths. Both Abra Simz and Red Rat are expected to visit some of Zimbabwe's top tourist destinations such as the Victoria Falls as well as meeting with their fans.
Born Wallace Wilson, Red Rat grew up in Saint Ann's Bay, a settlement located in the north coast of Jamaica, which is also the birthplace of Marcus Garvey and Burning Spear.
He is known for his upbeat music, comical style and signature catch phrase "Oh, No!".
Red Rat shot to fame with hits like "ShellyAnne", "Dwayne", "Tight Up Skirt" "Big Man", "Cruise" and "Little Yute".
In 1997 his debut album, "Oh, No . . It's Red Rat", became one of the best selling records from Green Sleeves Records.
His second album, "I'm a Big Kid Now", followed in 2000, with yet more hits and critical acclaim.
His musical diversity and mainstream popularity led to a series of collaborations with artistes such as Treach of Naughty by Nature, Kele Le Roc, Renee from Zhane and the group Next.
