Mazhindu crowned Miss CUT 2017

Chinhoyi University of Technology International Marketing student, 21-year-old beauty Tino Mazhinhu was crowned Miss CUT 2017 taking over from Rumbi 'catness' Chigama at a ceremony that was held at the CUT hotel last Friday. The event was hosted by Miss Tourism Cut Cassandra Naidoo and male model Sean Nyemba.

The event running under the theme 'Big Hearts Believe',  started off with glitz and glamour on the red carpet that was hosted by model and actor Conilious Toga at 6 pm. The hall was filled with scores of people by 7pm. Upcoming songstress Tinaye was the opening act supported by CUT 15, then the introduction of the panel which comprised of designer Phil Amikani, Z TA's Lindiwe Makoni, former models Lucina Papaya and Tariro Zinyemba followed and the appearance of escorts on the stage led by Lincoln Shokobishi sent the expectant crowd into a frenzy.

 

This year's pageant had 12 contestants including Maritza Dube, Hazel Dzama, Theresa Chibodo, Lisa Mutasa, Maryln Chitiyo, Sally Gombedza and CUT volleyball starTanya Chakanetsa. Models walked in casual, traditional, night and swim wear courtesy of designers Nompumelelo Sambangwa, Tapfumaneyi Munenge and Nandi Fashions. In what has become the norm of modelling contests, most models failed to answer questions forwarded to them by judges. Hannan Mleya and Tessa Tigere were crowned 1st and 2nd princess with Alima Mukwasani and Amanda Ncube taking the crowns of Miss People's Choice and Miss Personality CUT 2017 respectively.

A team of escorts which included 'Mr CUT King Marcial Samanga, models Ausie Natala, Jabulani Matemba, Andrew Ndlovu, Justice Kazingizi, Jackie Dambuka, Dash and Raphael Gondo did not disappoint as they took the opportunity to showcase their designer suits on the stage.

Young Games Entertainment CEO Brian James, 1st princess Miss Carnival Zimbabwe, Supermodel actressFormer Miss personality CUT Marylin Zingwe who groomed the giSupermodel-actress and outgoing 1st princess Edline Matapure also attended the event. CUT SRC President Lego Mhenyu, his deputy Showstopper Tafirenyika also attended in the company of their partners.

 

Miss Cut 2017 was organised by a committee comprising of models Jesse Msitini, Conilious Toga, graphic designer Tondey Musandu, CUT hockey team star Marylin Zingwe and Rumbi Chigama, with Young Games Entertainment coming in is the main sponsor.

Committee chair Jese Msitini said Miss CUT 2017 was a success, "The event was all classy and a big success, it's my hope that everyone enjoyed.Thank you all for coming.See you next year". "Despite challenges with stage management , a somewhat chaotic  crowd  demanding Donna Don back on the stage....the event was  a success."

Musicians  H20, Bris Mbada, Scrip Mulah, Schingy and main act DobaDon took turns to entertain the crowd.

Young Games Entertainment's Kellenah Haurobi made a speech on behalf of the sponsors and said her organisation was proud to be associated with the and looks foward to patner  Miss CUT pageant organisers in the near future.

The organising committee also thanked all staff, models and escorts for their commitment, "We would like to thank our staff  and crew, special mention to our transport manager Shaun Chifamba for the unwavering support."

Meanwhile the Miss CUT Organising Committee in conjunction with the Fate Club announced that Miss CUT Tino Mazhindu's escort Marcial 'GOBE' Samanga will serve as Mr CUT King 2017.
