Ropafadzo Vhiriri, the girl who claimed to have been impregnated by Sam Mtukudzi during his final days on earth, has finally given birth, close to two months after the normal gestation period.

In November last year, Vhiriri  shot to fame following claims she was carrying Sam's child, but recent events seem to suggest that her claims appear to be a farce.

Vhiriri gave birth to a baby girl last week, bringing to an end claims that the baby could have Mtukudzi blood flowing through its body as the baby was born two months after the expected time.

A doctor who agreed to speak under anonymity said: "There are very few situations of women going beyond 42 weeks, which is the normal gestation period for a pregnant woman (37-42 weeks), but it is very rare for someone go beyond that time," he said.

Vhiriri alleged that she fell pregnant at the same time that Sam died, which means the baby was conceived either end of February or early March.

The expected time of her delivery was then sometime between late November to early December, but she only delivered her healthy baby at the end of last month.

Asked to comment about her bundle of joy, Vhiriri was not willing to give out information only retorting: "I am tired of these stories and would appreciate it if you leave me alone. The media has caused me too much trouble and all I need now is peace," she said.

Efforts to get further details about the exact day the child was born were fruitless as she could not open up. "I haven't decided on the name of the child yet and even if I do so, I don't wish to share it with the media," she added.

It seems Daisy Mtukudzi was right, after all, by scoffing at the reports in the first place. She refuted the allegations by saying that "these people are simply after something".

What could it be then?

Asked to comment over the issue, Oliver Mtukudzi professed ignorance about the whole thing, simply saying: "I don't know what you are talking about. Who is she?"

Prior to Sam's tragic death, there were reports that the late saxophonist was head over heels in love with Vhiriri. And if the case is that the baby she delivered is not Sam's, then she must have been a "two-timer".

Her father, who identified himself as Bloodshed Vhiriri, once swore that his family is going to take the Mtukudzis to task, but it remains to be seen if that is really going to happen.
