Prophet Hosiah "Kwachu Kwachu" Chipanga, has once again proved why many call him one of the controversial artistes in the music industry. It is neither his decorated music career nor his newly established Mapipi Church, but his sexual shenanigans which probably a few would be aware of.
Chipanga, in an unsolicited interview in Dangamvura on his 60th birthday last Thursday, exclusively revealed that he sired three children with different women, excluding his current wife and is proud of it.
The revelations came amid the current impasse between him and his alleged fourth son with another mistress, Lancelot Chibwana (28) over a residential stand in Chitungwiza.
Chipanga is alleged to have sired Lancelot in the early 80s with Memory Chibwana who died in 1994. Lancelot later tracked his "father" in 2005.
Lancelot is, however, accusing Chipanga of disowning him at the time he needed him most.
Chipanga said he was "forced" to reveal his secret children to the world because he is not ashamed of them and that he has been having sleepless nights due to the "stubborn and controversial" Lancelot who, according to him is not really his child though difficult to prove.
He confirmed that he is the biological father to a Grade Zero pupil, Pupurai who is the youngest. He sired the child with Memory Paterson. The other child is Leone (27) and is currently staying with Chipanga's brother in Mozambique and Kelvin (35) who is a product of a one-night stand with an unknown woman. His fifth child, Zebron was sired with Chipanga's current wife.
"Vana vangu chaivo inini handirambi. I have three children sired out of wedlock with different women and I should not hide that to anyone because I am now a prophet who should lead by example. I am a father to everyone because I am now a bishop. The fourth son is, however, at the centre of controversy. I fell in love with Memory (Lancelot's mother) in the 80s at Bora in Murehwa and our relationship became intimate.
"She was, however, in love with someone else, a soldier named Sibanda. She fell pregnant and vanished only to reappear six months later with a baby. She convinced everyone that the baby was mine. She told her friends that I was responsible and I was powerless to deny that, but if the baby was really mine he should have been born two months later.
"Memory's friend who stays in Chitungwiza confirmed that Sibanda was his real father. We argued for years before Memory died in the early nineties. I later met Lancelot in 2005 and I accommodated him and treated him like my own son because it was not clear whether he was mine or not. He asked me to help him obtain a birth certificate, but I insisted on meeting his uncles first. I employed him as a band member, but he proved to be stubborn and untrustworthy. He became promiscuous and fell in love with my dancers. He is not respectful and off late he has been threatening.
"He is demanding to occupy my residential stand in Chitungwiza and have other privileges as a son. This is unacceptable. I know all my children and Lancelot can't be one of them."
Chipanga said Lancelot's claims were purely false, malicious and a smear campaign.
"He intends to tarnish my image. I, however, have no right to deny that he is my child spiritually since I am now a bishop who loves every human being. I love everyone. I should not hate him. I am actually planning to establish a children's home. Lancelot is lazy and is trying to bulldoze his way into the Chipanga family, something which he will never achieve. He demanded to have my residential stand as if it is his?
"Her late mother never came to me asking for anything. I wish I could find the birth record. I am willing to go for DNA tests and if it happens that I am the biological father, I will apologise to him, the nation and above all God. I am not an angel. God is always there to forgive. Mai Chipanga knows everything about my life, so I should not be worried about anything," Chipanga said.
In a telephone interview, Lancelot (28), who is currently staying at Bora Township, said his mother told her that Chipanga was his father although he (Chipanga) was trying to run away from reality. He said he wished the whole world to know the truth because his supposed father was turning his back on him.
"Dad knows I am his son. I do not intend to inherit or get anything from him because he is poor and does not have anything to his name. Everything is down. He does not have anything to show to the world. He does not have money, even his car is broken down, tell me exactly what I intend to gain from him. He should just accept me as his own child because that is the reality. My mother and relatives told me that Chipanga is my dad and what am I supposed to do?
"I wish to work with him to revive my musical career, but he does not like me. He hates me so much, yet he calls himself a prophet. I wish his friends and musicians will help him understand that I am his own flesh and blood," he said.
