THOUSANDS of music lovers were disappointed after American R 'n' B
singer Mary J Blige who was scheduled to perform in Harare yesterday did
not turn up.
Most of her fans anticipated getting into the Christmas festivities in style after attending the show.
However, they were left sulking after the early Christmas treat was canceled.
Miss Belinda Mutinhiri of Impeccable Events, the show promoters, yesterday confirmed the cancellation of the concert, which has now been rescheduled for February next year.
She said her organisation experienced financial challenges."Mary J Blige was supposed to jet into the country on Friday for the gig," she said.
"However, she could not make it because of some logistical problems.
"All the groundwork was done, but we faced a small challenge with the(finance) transfer confirmation. The transfer took long to be cleared and she could not leave America without receiving the full payment."
Most of the singer's fans were disappointed.
Mr Blessing Nyaboti of Hellensville in the capital said: "As a fan of Mary J Blige, I am disappointed. My wife and I thought we were going to have an early Christmas treat."
Ms Tariro Muchena also said: "Mary J Blige is a well-recognised and appreciated artiste. It becomes worrying when promoters fail to live up to their word."
Mary J Blige is acclaimed for timeless hit songs such as Everything, No More Drama and Be Without You.
