Chiyangwa gets an Entertainment, Film, and Fashion award

Phillip Chiyangwa, a flamboyant businessman and property developer, has added another award to his bountiful cabinet by bagging the Black Entertainment, Film, and Fashion and Television Awards.

Beffta Awards is a distinctly special awards ceremony honouring the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA, Africa, Caribbean, Canada and globally.

The awards ceremony founded by Pauline Long also aims to inspire black and ethnic personalities worldwide to achieve at the highest levels.

Chiyangwa has been recognised for his outstanding work in inspiring poor black people and leading a recognisable investment group which has positively impacted lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

The maverick Zanu-PF official was due to pick up the award in London at the weekend where he was pencilled to officiate at the launch of his daughter's Stephanie Chiyangwa's book, 'Situation IS Never Destiny.'

Stephanie is the founder and chief executive officer of Helpushelpourselves ' a life changing charity organisation.

"It is an honour for me to be receiving the Beffta," Chiyangwa told the Daily News yesterday.

"My works are being celebrated beyond Zimbabwe and this can only help me do more for our communities."

Chiyangwa has since re-scheduled due to a relative's funeral. Human rights and girl child campaigner Betty Makoni was also honoured with a humanitarian category.

For Chiyangwa this is a latest addition to a growing cabinet of honours. This year, a Phillipine university conferred him with a doctorate for contributing "immensely" in the education and property sectors.

The aspiring Zanu-PF chairperson for Mashonaland West remains a colourful figure who inspires the downtrodden but angers the well-heeled.

He has never shied away from revealing the extent of his riches even it means angering those who believe he is a showman.
