THE duo of popular South Africa soap "7 De Laan" actors, Ivan Botha and Donnalee Roberts seem to have developed a soft spot for the works of Zimbabwe-born South Africa-based young inspirational speaker and writer Mthokozisi Gwizi.
Botha plays the role of the young artist, Pieter, in the SABC 2 soap while Roberts plays the role of Annelie in the Afrikaans drama.
Gwizi grew up in rural Lupane in Matabeleland North and did his teacher training education at the United College of Education (UCE) in Bulawayo.
"To me it sounds like a fairytale movie. I am a Zimbabwe-born South Africa-based motivational speaker and writer who has just found himself in the company of South Africa's most prominent people. After buying my book titled, Against All Odds: It Can Still Be Done, Donnalee and her fiancé Ivan recently invited and hosted me at their mother's hotel called Village on Sea in Durban for five days. I autographed the copy of the book they had bought.
They said my works inspired them," said Gwizi in an interview from South Africa. The motivational speaker said he was happy that the development of being hosted by the two famed actors comes at a time when some Zimbabweans are making news in South Africa for wrong reasons.
"It is pleasing to note my rubbing of shoulders with famed people in South Africa comes at a time when some Zimbabweans are making news in South Africa for wrong reasons. It's quite refreshing to note that there are others like me who are representing the country well," said Gwizi.
The book Against All Odds: It Can Still Be Done was published in Zimbabwe on March1, last year by Inkdrops Publishers. Gwizi is also a school teacher at Johannesburg School for the Blind and he has received invitations to speak at schools, orphanages, colleges, Radio Impact (station) and other organisations across the Limpopo River.
He has spoken alongside one of Africa's most respected inspirational speakers Braimo Bello, who is also a professor at Wits University.
The Lupane boy has a fast growing list of social media followers where his "Facebook family" just cannot get enough of his inspirational articles. He has also written articles for South Africa's Christian Magazine.
So inspiring are Gwizi's articles on social media that some time in April his Facebook friend Babs Balogun, who he has never met personally, sent him cash all the way from the Middle East to help him print more copies of his book.
"Babs Balogun who is based in the Middle East appreciates my God-given gift. I have never met him, but he was touched by my works and he decided to make a monetary contribution. God works in amazing ways," he said.
Gwizi is also a passionate preacher of God's Word and he said he has the desire to continue growing as an author and motivational speaker and to eventually come back to Zimbabwe to share his experience and knowledge with fellow countrymen who are in the same field.
