Miss Zimbabwe second princess (2007) and former Miss Bulawayo Sibusisiwe Dube on Sunday went ballistic on social networking site Facebook accusing journalists of rumour mongering and receiving bribes to write bad stories about people.
Dube's Facebook rants coincided with a story on weekly Sunday News newspaper that reported that Sonny Phiri, husband to former Miss Zimbabwe Lorraine Maphala was involved in an illicit love affair with an 18 year old teenage neighbour identified as Rumbidzai Sibanda.
Headman Sibanda, the teenager's father confirmed the affair.
But Dube had no kind words for the media.
"Some stories that we see on Newspapers really lack depth. Is this the kind of journalism that we subjected to in Zimbabwe!!!
"People settle scores on newspapers and taint other people's images for nothing. Journalists are corrupt and most of their so called tabloid stories lack meaning," fumed Dube.
In her tirade, Dube said journalists needed to go for refresher courses and adapt to a new era.
"Journalists must do their jobs and stop sleeping on the job. They have become rumour mongers most of them," Dube said.
"They must go for refresher courses and adapt to the new era... Try and mirror or report relevant issues to the society ... So that they can remain relevant . Zimbabwe has become a corrupt country and these corrupt journalists are playing a very big role . So sad!!!!!"
Sunday News reported that Phiri who wedded Maphala five months ago was involved in a love affair with Sibanda, who lives 800 metres from the couple's matrimonial home, for the past three years.
