VETERAN musician-cum-prophet Hosiah Chipanga has released a new album, Mumweya, where he likened himself to the biblical Noah who was despised by the world yet carrying messages of life which subsequently led to the destruction of some of Adam and Eve's descendants.
The controversial lyricist, unlike in his previous 15 albums, this year recorded just four songs and has vowed to downsize the number of songs in his next album to two simply because of piracy. Songs on the album are Shoko Ramwari, Zimbabwe Ndeyemweya, Matthew 5 vs 13 and Nharo. Nharo is directed to all people who despise him and his teachings. He likens himself to the biblical Noah. In the song, he said, he encouraged people to learn something about the nature of God from the Noah and Ark story, including that God cannot tolerate sin, and that sin will not go unpunished. Chipanga said people realised later that his teachings are right, yet then it would be too late. Chipanga also dedicated the song, Zimbabwe Ndeyemweya, to President Mugabe and said he (President Mugabe) was chosen by God.
The Kwachu-Kwachu hitmaker said he recently handed over his new album to Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe president Johanes Ndanga to give it to President Mugabe. "I am not sure if he has received it yet, but I dedicated the song Zimbabwe Ndeyemweya to him. I am happy to record the four songs because piracy has reduced us to paupers. "Next time I will record even two songs or a single one," said Chipanga who was finally given the leeway by the now defunct LPM studio to record his album elsewhere. The new project was recorded at Record and Tape Promotions. Chipanga's 22-year-old son, Danwell, played the lead guitar on all songs.
