DJ Cleo's goalkeeping dream going nowhere

MULTIPLE award-winning DJ Cleo's dream of being a goalie ain't going nowhere! The DJ, whose real name is Cleopas Monyepao, has been moving from pillar to post. He has pitched up at the University of Pretoria senior team, AmaTuks.
Cleo is training with the University outfit with a view to securing himself a contract with Coach Steve Barker's club.
Earlier this year, the entertainer trained with Bidvest Wits but coach Gavin Hunt was not interested in adding him to his goalkeeping department.
Cleo even tried his luck with the Ke Yona Nedbank Cup team search trials but he also didn't make the grade in Owen da Gama's team. The hitmaker's passion for sport reportedly started when his music career kicked off in the early 2000s. A little birdie at Amatuks camp said DJ Cleo has been training with The First Team for more than a month now and is looking fit.
"We've been training with him, and he is in good condition. "But I wonder what will happen to him because we have a young team. As a man of his age, I don't think he will fit into the club structure."
The little birdie went on: "Does he want to become a professional goalkeeper or is he pulling one of his stunts?"
Another source added: "At first I thought he came here to help cheerleaders with their dance moves. "I wish Steve Barker would give him a chance to play in our PSL matches."
Sunday Sun contacted University of Pretoria's media officer, Pearl Mosoane, who said: "We can confirm that DJ Cleo is training with us, just to keep fit.
"He asked the coach, Steve Barker, if he can train with the goalkeepers.
"The coach said it's up to the goalkeeper coach to decide. And the goalkeeper coach agreed."
DJ Cleo was unavailable for comment. His phone rang unanswered all of last week.
