Kwaito star arrested for kidnapping

GP Gangsta kwaito artist Nkosana Thwala was arrested today for allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend and forcing her to "smoke drugs" - a day after being given bail for allegedly assaulting her, Gauteng police said.
Thwala first appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and damaging her house, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.
Following his bail release, Thwala, 24, allegedly went to his girlfriend's house in Soweto on Tuesday.
Thwala allegedly "took her to his house which is also in Soweto, kept her in a room, and while pointing a firearm at her, forced her to smoke drugs".
Makhubela said the woman, 19, managed to escape through a window and alert police.
Thwala, better known by his fans as "Nsimbi", was arrested at his house in Zola soon after.
Thwala will appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday. He will be charged with kidnapping and pointing a firearm.
"We are going to oppose bail for this one," Makhubela added.
According the group's website, Nkosana is a co-founder of the group GP Gangsta, made up of three Soweto artists, and is an executive member of Brown Bottle Entertainment.
He is described as being the "most delinquent" member of the group, because of his notorious lyrics.
In 2003 GP Gangsta released their debut album "Gangsta Gangsta" which featured "Zola till I die" and "Brand new day". It was nominated for the Channel O Awards in the best hip-hop and best newcomer categories.
