Star FM DJ Ndumiso "Skywalker" Dube, who was arrested on Monday for defaulting on a $100 monthly maintenance for a child he sired with Getrude Maseko, was rescued by a friend after spending the night in cells.
The controversial DJ was arrested soon after being ordered by magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza to pay $80 for the upkeep of another child mothered by Tendai Manyame.
He spent the night in police cells pending an appearance before a magistrate on criminal charges. However, a friend only identified as Waty came to the DJ's rescue.
Maseko confirmed the development in an interview with the Daily News.
"I received some money through EcoCash from one of his friends, Waty and I wrote an affidavit withdrawing the charges," she said.
Things turned nasty for the radio DJ on Monday soon after he left the courtroom when he was arrested for defaulting the February 2014 maintenance order granted in favour of Maseko.
"Respondent (Dube) is ordered to pay maintenance in the sum of $100 per month for one child with effect from March, 30, 2014," the February order reads.
Skywalker was arrested on the basis of Maseko's affidavit which claimed the DJ had failed to pay $100, which was part of the maintenance order.
"At present, the responsible person, namely Ndumiso Dube of 102 Simon Mazorodze Road, has not complied with the maintenance court order and he is now in total arrears valued at $100," read Maseko's affidavit.
After the arrest, Dube was immediately taken into the police post at the Harare Civil Court, before being taken to Harare Central Police Station, where he was detained.
The 29-year-old DJ has been hogging the limelight for wrong reasons, following claims by the two women that he is a "serial bed-hopper".
The women claimed that the DJ fathered six children with six different women.
There are also claims that a United Kingdom-based nurse, Mandida Mpofu, is expecting his child.
