THE producers of TV soapie Generations have dismissed rumours that spread like wild fire in social media yesterday that hospitalised lead actor Menzi Ngubane has died.
Generations said Ngubane, who plays the role of media mogul Sibusiso Dlomo, was in fact not only alive and kicking but recovering well from an undisclosed ailment, Sowetanlive has revealed.
Ngubane fell ill last week and was admitted to a Johannesburg Hospital.
Sowetan yesterday fielded enquiries from concerned fans wanting to know whether the rumours about the actor's alleged death were true.
Generations producers issued a statement reading: "Mfundi Vundla, executive producer of SABC1's popular daily drama Generations , would like to update fans, the media and press of the progress of Menzi Ngubane's recovery.
"The actor is undergoing successful treatment, and his condition has improved considerably.
"While he will be in recovery for the next few weeks, his steady return to health is certain. On behalf of the family, the producers request that Menzi's full and speedy recovery not be hampered by press, media or well-meaning fans; and that his privacy be respected during this time of healing."
