A popular musician and Maskandi in South Africa Thokozani Somnandi Langa has visited the lat Mtshengiseni Gcwensa's home to console his family amid revelations during his life time they were not in good books.
Daily Sun reported that they were rivals, but "it was like playful stick fighting" and meant no harm.
So said maskandi giant Mtshengiseni "Indidane" Gcwensa's rival Thokozani "Somnandi" Langa in comforting the fallen star's family.
Somnandi visited the family in Umsinga on Tuesday morning with a crowd of friends and music colleagues.
He said visiting them was a tough decision as he knew fans thought they were enemies.
"I never wished for him to die. We were only exchanging harsh lyrics as a way of showing our competitive youthful taunting such as is done by izinsizwa," said Somnandi.
"People on social media think I am happy, but I'm hurt more than many people believe. We provoked each other, but we were never enemies," he told the family.
He reminded the Gcwensas that he recently visited Indidane at his Umsinga homestead, and they didn't object.
"Indidane also visited me at my home at Ulundi."
Somnandi said in maskandi, one taunted rivals or praised those who did well.
The Isichomane nickname that fans gave Indidane suited him as he was good at taunting rivals.
Somnandi warned other artists to avoid misleading their fans by pushing the taunting game too far.
