AWARD-WINNING singer Zahara allegedly dropped the popular SABC1 lifestyle show Sport at 10 like a hot potato.
"Zahara", real name Bulelwa Mkutukana, was said to be scheduled for an interview on the show Wednesday night but failed to pitch.
Daily Sun reported the Loliwe hitmaker was apparently supposed to have been a guest star on the show hosted by Thomas Mlambo.
Sources in the know said Zahara's no-show caused chaos in the Sport @ 10 studios.
"Producers had to call around for a replacement because she had confirmed weeks before," said a source.
Rapper "JR", real name Tabure Thabo Bogopa Junior, came to their rescue.
"You must remember the show is live. It's notprerecorded, where you can just cut and edit things," said the source.
The source added when Zahara was called, she told the producers she had a family crisis, but they didn't buy her story.
The source suspected Zahara was either scared of the fact that the show is live, or she was double-booked.
"The producers don't mind, but I think the stress of finding a replacement was too much for them, especially at the 11th hour," said the source.
The source said TS Records took a gamble by bringing the Make the Circle Bigger hitmaker to the show, instead of Zahara.
"Luckily, JR came through for us.
"I seems TS Records wanted to promote him," the source added.
Zahara's manager, Sanele Dlamini, denied the invitation to appear on Sport @ 10.
"This is news to me. Zahara doesn't go anywhere without my knowledge and me giving her the green light.
"So I don't know where all this comes from," said Sanele.
SABC spokesman, Kaizer Kganyago, said he wasn't aware of the incident. "Producers are the ones who have an idea, I doubt even Thomas has clarity," said Kaizer.
