Twenty-year-old Beitbridge super model Heroine Langalanga will represent Matabeleland South province in the Miss Zimbabwe pageant to be held in Harare next year after coming out victorious at the regional finals held in the border town on Friday night.
The beauty contest was held at Express by Holiday Inn in the border town and was attended by a full house.
Langalanga romped to victory after beating six other models form the province who gave her a good run for the title.
Nyasha Zidana and Linda Moyo both from the border town came out as first and second princesses respectively.
The Miss Zimbabwe Trust was co-ordinating the event, with more provincial finals lined up throughout the country before the end of the year.
Beitbridge urban grooves artiste Leprechaun featuring Ngazvitange All Stars added colour to the event when they belted out tracks such as the chart-making song "Ndokukorobhera", "Tavharisa Beitbridge", "Mabhozida" and "Ane Wake Waanoda".
In an interview, the upbeat Langalanga said she was happy to represent the province adding that she was looking forward to doing well at the national finals.
She attributed her victory to confidence and determination.
"I want to bring a positive change in the modelling industry across the province through initiating self-help and economic empowerment to programmes in the society especially those that benefit the underprivileged girl child.
"I am very grateful for the support I have been getting from my friends and family. From today I am going to start preparing for the national finals and I promise to bring the crown to Beitbridge.
"Modelling has been my dream since I was six years old and nothing will stop me from realising that dream," she said.
Pageant co-ordinator Yvonne Chiwara described the vent as a great success and thanked all the players and sponsors for their support.
She said the idea was to identify models that represented the true aspirations of Zimbabwe and its communities.
"We want to come up with a set of models with good looks, confidence who can fully depict and uphold Zimbabwe's cultural and economic aspirations. We have lined up a number of regional beauty contests in several provinces throughout the country this month," she said.
