More than 60 beauty queens from across the world are expected to come to Zimbabwe in August for the Miss Heritage World, a beauty pageant that will coincide with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly.
Visiting Miss Heritage World Organisation Committee Member, Sifiso Xaba from South Africa and the beauty pageant's founder Venancius Rukero from Namibia, said most African women have been left out in the other pageants such as the Miss World due to set requirements which failed to accept their African identities.
"We have seen most models from the continent failing to take the crown as the requirements are not favourable to African women and we came up with this pageant that celebrates our heritage as well as women with substance..." said Rukero.
The Zimbabwean team says it has already started preparations for the event.
Miss Heritage World beauty pageant is set to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered to be of outstanding value to humanity.
