Zimbabweans to host Gospel festival in SA

Zimbabweans in diaspora never cease to amaze when it comes to entertainment, barely a few days after Bayethe gospel festival, another gospel festival shall follow at Hillbrow theatre under ZIDAFO, on 2 September.
ZIDAFO (Zimbabweans In Diaspora Artists Forum)'s Gospel festival will run under the theme: 'Our Arts On Top' and 30 groups will perform in the event , starting from 7pm and ending in the following morning.
The performing groups included have already shot a collaborative music video entitled the 'Best of Zim Gospel Vol 1'.
The organising team confirmed that the preparations are now at an advanced stage and the MC of the night Mongezi Mpofu aka Moe Mashaba is reportedly ready to stay live till the dawn of the morning.
ZIDAFO ,according to its chairman Promise Sibanda "is a platform that was inaugurated in 2016 after we realised the shortage of synergy amongst artists and their different genres. We therefore started meeting as arts practitioners to find a resolution that can give our arts the element of sustainability and consistency which has been lacking, thus the result was the formation of the forum. "
This forum has different categories to cater for different genres which include, Theatre,Maskandi,Rhumba, Literature.
"Besides creating synergy, we aim to link our artists with all relevant authorities in arts", said Sibanda.
"All these genres are important, we chose to start with gospel because besides being just music it has that spiritual uplifting element to us as believers," Sibanda continued.
The gospel festival will be succeeded by Maskandi festival, then Maskandi ,Rhumba and lastly there will be a launch of a ZIDAFO magazine this year.
On the day there will be a live video shoot complemented by Dipro Fm on air.
The performing groups include the following: Impendulo Yamakholwa, Preachers of God, Umkhumbi kaNoah, Izingilosi ,Anele,Thuli Khumalo, Imvuselelo Yamakholwa,Nothando Ndlovu & Batembezeli, Osweli Ncube,Sabelo Sigabade, Indumiso choir, Nombeko khahlela, Izwi Lesiphephelo, Inkazimulo yamakholwa ,Ithemba labakholwayo, Family of praise, Abaduduzi bamakholwa, Nkosibona, Mlamuli Fuzafulele, Revival Ambassador, Sisters of Paradise, kosa Tshuma, Followers of Light, Edomeco, Leah and The Vessels, Mattie, Glory of God ,Abathandwa Benkosi.
Other groups are yet to confirm with the organisers.
