MKHULULI Bhebhe, a rising Zimbabwean gospel star who also sings for Joyous Celebration in South Africa, is set to perform alongside Donnie McClurkin in South America at the end of this month.

The show is scheduled for 28 March in Trinidad and Tobago at Dwight Yorke Stadium.

The 29-year old singer who, in 2007 was the first runner up in the CBZ A Academy, told Saturday Leisure that he will let his American audience sample his hit, iChokwadi.

"My musical career has grown tremendously since I joined Joyous Celebration in 2010. Due to this, I feel greatly honoured to be performing alongside the international gospel singer, Donnie McClurkin on 28 March in Trinidad and Tobago.

"This will be my first international show. I hope it will offer me an opportunity to tap into the international market. Furthermore, it is not about Mkhululi, but showing the world that Zimbabwe has everything to offer on the international musical scene.

"Besides this, it is a wake up call for fans and promoters at home to start supporting local talent in order for artistes to flourish in their work. It is so saddening to note that most local artistes are starved of the necessary support they crave for from fans at home. Yet they are appreciated more in foreign lands," said Bhebhe.

He also promised to return home and settle here if people and other stakeholders in the arts industry start appreciating local talent.

In December last year, Bhebhe released a 13-track album, iChokwadi which has songs such as Thelumoya and Tambira Jehovah among others.

Tambira Jehovah has already proven to be a sing-along hit and will undoubtedly leave the American audience clamouring for more.

Bhebhe is based in South Africa where he is a full-time member and singer for Joyous Celebration.
