JAZZ musician, Jeys Marabini has hailed the all night music fiesta, the Bulawayo Comes Alive Festival as a success and thanked the Bulawayo community for the resounding response.
The musical gala was held last Friday at Masina Sports Bar.
"I am very very happy with what happened. The event was a huge success, we were not expecting such a turnout from the people of Bulawayo, but they came in their numbers and braved the chilly night to support local musicians," said Marabini.
Over 69 artistes took to the stage at the music festival that ended on Saturday morning.
He commended the Bulawayo music fans for the support.
"It was a great thing seeing the audiences coming in their numbers and paying to see their artistes performing. That is what we envisage to see in the future, audiences coming in droves to support their artistes," he said.
He paid tribute to Bulawayo artistes who dedicated their time to be part of the festival.
"At the beginning, we had about 40 artistes but on Friday we ended up with 69 artistes who came along to be part of the festival.
"They worked together with a spirit of togetherness, no artiste was paid we all performed and looked forward to the gate charges
"Although we faced a lot of challenges along the way we are happy that the event lived up to its billing," said Marabini.
He appealed to companies to support Bulawayo artistes, as well as recognise them as they do to Harare artistes.
Marabini added that with the level of support they received they were hoping that the event would be bigger and better next year.
A number of budding and seasoned artistes shared the stage to showcase what Bulawayo is made of.
Some of the artistes who performed are Khuxxman, Umdumo Wesizwe, Mcheznana, Sandra Ndebele, Impumelelo Shining Stars, Chase Skuza, gospel musician Tholakele Ngomayabo, poet Sthandazile Dube, Ndolwane Super Sounds, Ndux Junior among others.
