Local poet Solwazi Nkiwane to release anthology

Bulawayo poet Solwazi Nkiwane has put together an anthology of her poetry which is set to be published before the end of this year.
The 21-poem collection titled Truth Be Told includes pieces originally published by Radio Dialogue in their magazine YDB.
Nkiwane, who is popularly known as Eternity, has included Connection, A Child to be Born and Umlomo Wakho which are among her most-acclaimed poems to date.
The young poet told the Daily News that the anthology is a journey through her 11-year poetry career.
"The anthology reflects the truth according to Eternity. It is more about facts and self-realisation," said Nkiwane.
According to the 24-year-old poet, diverse topics are catered for by the 21 poems.
"It is also about love because today's generation quickly rushes into marriage and also divorces early. Poems found in the big book cover various aspects of life.
"Even if we are not affected by the scourge of wars in Zimbabwe, we should not forget that some countries are stuck in conflict caused by endless wars," said Nkiwane.
Being a woman passionate about gender equality, it is not surprising that Nkiwane included Song Like No Other and Mr Brown which focus on women abuse.
Two poems Voice of Repentance and By Nature's Hand bring a Christian perspective to the anthology.
Nkiwane, who is one of the most recognisable poets in Zimbabwe's second largest city, has featured in several arts events which include Intwasa Arts Festival, Bulawayo Has Got Talent and Poetic Dreams.
At the end of this month, the Bulawayo poet is scheduled to perform as part of the Save the Rhino Campaign.
"My performance will support the big event and I believe people will learn a lot about conserving and protecting our nature," Nkiwane said.
