BULAWAYO hip-hop kwaito group Kasi Lunatics has clinched a deal for their song to be produced under the Kalawa label in South Africa.

Kalawa Jazzmee's DJ Bobster has taken an interest in the group and the locals will leave next month to go and record at his  studio.

Kasi Lunatics group member Freddy "Milezy" Maseko said the finer details on the single would be done in South Africa.

"We are supposed to leave next month to work with DJ Bobster of Kalawa. We will be working on a single with the intention of penetrating the South African market," he said.

"The deal was reached in December and the name of the single will be decided once we listen to the instrumentals. We are hoping that we get signed under the label if we impress."

Maseko said when Kalawa invaded Bulawayo in December for their annual show they were finalising on when they would go to South Africa.

"We managed to finalise the deal during their time here, but the talks had started prior to their arrival in the country. We are now doing our final preparations for the journey," he said.

Maseko added that a friend is sponsoring their trip to South Africa and in the near future they would record an album.

Kasi Lunatics is one of the established rap groups based in Bulawayo. It rose to fame soon after its formation in 2010.

Hits such as Tatopinda, Baphi abantwana and Masenza have proved popular with hip-hop lovers.  The group is made up of five talented artistes who hail from Mzilikazi suburb. They are Godfrey "RAPZ" Mpofu, Saziso "Subzero" Moyo, Talent "Krusty" Kaseke, Arthur "Theirs" Mutize and Maseko.
