Zim animated comedy to be launched in Bulawayo

The City of Kings (Bulawayo)'s first ever animated comedy titled the Bulawayo Show is set to be launched at the beginning of next month after realisation that Zimbabwe lagged behind in animated comedy.
This has been revealed by Bulawayo Show marketing officer and director for Ingwe Studios, Zenzele Ndebele.
Speaking to The Zimbabwe Mail yesterday, Ndebele said the Bulawayo Show was a brain child of Ingwe studios and Thabani Lunga, aka Brucik Lungovich.
Ingwe Studios is a multi-purpose recording studio accommodating audio, composition and recording requirements.
Brucik (31) is a fourth year medical student at the Perm State Medical Academy.
"We realised there was a gap when it comes to comedy, especially animated comedy and there was an opportunity with social media to share the content."
"So, we decided to do the show to entertain the people and also educate them. The response was good and each episode was viewed by more than 5 000 people on Facebook and shared a lot on WhatsApp," he said.
In April 2014, comic video clips of the Bulawayo Show went viral in Bulawayo and the rest of the country after the clips caught people's attention on social media.
The clips, at the time, comprised mini comedy clips namely Sgwadi Mampara, Ntuthu, Comedy Club, Alpha News, Amabeats, Office Gossip and The Kingdom.
Sgwadi Mampara tackled peer pressure, adolescence and dating while Ntuthu touched on Bulawayo life situations like youth subcultures, drug abuse, peer pressure and circumcision.
Ndebele said the Bulawayo Show was inspired by the need to promote culture and comment on what is going on in society.
"This is why our themes are mostly about social issues. We are also planning to set up an online store where we will sell merchandise of the Bulawayo show".
"We are currently also selling advertising space in our show to companies," he said.
