The popular Gwanda-born comedian, event organiser, Director of ceremonies, musician and film producer Mothusi Bashimane Ndlovu known in arts circles as Madlela Skhobokhobo Power has scooped the  Zimbabwe Achievers  Award (SA).The event was held at The Beautiful Maslow Hotel, Sandton, Johannesburg on the 10th of December 2016.

According to ZAA-SA, the voting was opened from the 1st of November and closed on the 5th of December 2016, the polls saw about 65 nominees being wrapped in for the 16 different categories. Moreso the awards are meant to recognise and reward the contribution of the Zimbabwe Diaspora Community's excellence in all areas of life – from business to sport, entertainment to public service, the arts to charitable good works.

As for Madlela he had to battle it out with the best under the People's Choice Category as he was nominated alongside Baba Tencen, Chichie Mhende, Genius 'Ginimbi' Kadungure and Anorld Chirisa .

In his acceptance speech he said: "I would like to thank the Almighty God for guiding me all the away. I also thank all who voted, I also thank the event organisers for such a big recognition, my management, media consultants, branding team, my family ,the cast and everyone who has contributed positively to this Madlela brand. Indeed, a dream never dies as our slogan goes.''

"I was up against the greatest but this proved that people see what we are doing and enjoy it. Our mandate is to bring dignity to our art, so this is our time,''  Ndlovu added.

Commenting from his base in Bulawayo, the well-travelled Arts Manager ,Victory Siyanqoba Executive Director and Madlela lifetime colleague Desire Moyo aka Moyoxide -The Freedom Poet said, "It's a milestone and exquisite honest evidence that Matabeleland is rich in creative talent which the world cannot ignore. Madlela has fought a selflessly struggle for demystifying the miasma that Matabeleland is an artistic accident full of unprofessional and achievers strugglers. From humble beginnings to today, Madlela is matchless. I say here is our own, Salute!"

"Just thinking of how many awards Bulawayo has received this year alone, indeed we have worked, the world knows us better Zimbabwe's Harare," The Manama toxic poet continued.

The ZAA –SA Director ,Lawrence Dube said: "after a hectic planning period we are proud as ZAA-SA of the many nominees and winners for this year's awards. The awards which are the pinnacle of celebration of the diaspora in SA have seen immense group."

Dube said the guests included their Patron  Hon Dr Walter Mzembi who is Zimbabwe's Minister of tourism and hospitality and chairperson of NCOP South Africa hon Thandi Modise.

"One cannot also speak about the awards without special mention of the People's Choice award given by the people of Zimbabwe for a Zimbabwean who is doing well and affecting his community. Our deserved winner Mothusi Madlela Ndlovu is a deserving winner as he embodies just that. A man whose passion for theatre and the arts has overflown to others as he expresses his God-given gift. We hope to see many productions from him in South Africa and Zimbabwe,"  Dube added.

Taking from the above, the multi-award winning journalist and now music promoter at Bayethe , Mxolisi Ncube said " we must accept that this is Mothusi's time. That is what God's script says and no –one can re-write God's script. He is on his Peter Ndlovu moment and must take advantage and make the best of it while the sun shines on him. As a piece of advice, every page of success has its own bad paragraphs, so he must remain on guard. Temptations will come, trials will come and allegations will come but he must keep himself grounded and focus on what he wants to achieve. Above all, he must trust God to see him where he must reach."

From Bulawayo again the living legend Majahawodwa Ndlovu aka Jeys Marabini also echoed similar sentiments on the winning artist as he said: "Madlela is a hardworking, talented, down to earth artist whose humbleness will take him higher."

Apparently soon after the announcement of the People's choice award winner, comments flooded on social media about Madlela, and many profile pictures had Madlela on it tagged as 'ubulema buyadlisa' (craziness pays-off).

This then bears a testimony of how he has won the hearts of many people across borders. Here are some of the few comments sent to Switchbod Arts Magazine in the early hours of Sunday morning:
