Bev's Bulawayo show oversubscribed

SCORES of people were turned away at the door of Umqombothi Sports Bar in Bulawayo as the venue proved too small during Bev and the Sexy Angels' show there on Friday.

Most of the time Bev and her troupe perform in the city centre and this time a switch in venue triggered a near stampede at Umqombothi situated in Nkulumane 5, as most people in the high density suburb wanted to catch a glimpse of Bev.

By 7PM the nightspot had started turning people away from the venue and outside the venue people were milling around trying to find out if they could enter the venue to watch Bev.

So full was the club that Bev ended up getting on stage earlier, 8PM, as "it did not make sense for people to wait" until midnight.

"The venue was too full for us to wait for Bev to perform at midnight. So she then had to get on stage at 8PM and entertain the crowd who had already packed the venue," said Zandile Moyo, Umqombothi spokesperson.

And disappoint she didn't as she kept the crowd spell bound with her dance moves until 1AM.

For those who were turned away on the night they should not despair according to Moyo, as Zoey and the Red Angels will descend on the nightspot this Friday. Tickets are pegged at $2 of which Moyo said they were limited.

"Zoey and the Red Angels will come to entertain our patrons. This is mostly for those who missed the show on Friday. We urge people to come early because the tickets will be limited," said Moyo.

Umqombothi Sports Bar has become a centre of attraction with a search light fixed atop of the establishment.
