The HIFA Comedy festival is back with an exciting lineup according to trailblazing comedian Carl Joshua Ncube. This is is the 4th time the comedian has produced stand up comedy shows at HIFA and explains that this year's lineup is about positioning Zimbabwe stand up comedy on a global stage. The lineup includes comedians with television credits on some of the top media platforms in the world.

The countries represented are Malaysia, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe. According to NCUBE the comedians coming to Zimbabwe have two roles firstly to make people laugh but also give insight into what it is like to be on platforms like NETFLIX, performing in SOLD OUT ARENAS and navigating the broadcasting space in South Africa. The comics are amazing but we also need to position ourselves as a country on international media platforms to grow the comics and also the demand for comedy specials across the continent.

This year HIFA has a 6-day comedy program produced and directed by Carl Joshua Ncube will feature Kavin Jay from Malaysia, Salvado from Uganda and Nqoba Ngcobo from South Africa. This year Carl also launches a project called Girls Killing It which seeks to create an environment to identify and grow female stand up comedians in Zimbabwe. Carl mentions that female African stand-up comedians are super talented and get paid so well but there is, unfortunately, a very small number of them.

The comedy program will kick off on the 1st of May with an ensemble show (which features many comedians) then followed by one-man shows of the international comedians including Carl and finally the cast of females identified and trained by Carl to close off the comedy section of HIFA on the 6th of May.
