SUNGURA musician Alick Macheso will introduce his new dancer, Forward Antonio, at his first show in Harare since his return from the United Kingdom on July 9.
Antonio will replace Peter Kagomera, who was recently fired from the Orchestra Mberikwazvo outfit for insubordination and will be making his maiden appearance with the group when they perform at New Life Night Club on Friday.
Orchestra Mberikwazvo assistant manager Jethro Machanja confirmed the development describing Antonio as a gifted dancer who would have no problem fitting into Kagomera's shoes.
"He (Antonio) has been on trials with the band and passed. In fact, he did some of his routines with Peter when he was still with us," he said.
Machanja also said Antonio had blended well the other band members, saying he would not disappoint when they perform at New Life.
"This is our first show in Harare since the return of the band from the UK in July. We have been performing outside Harare in what we called the Tinokurangarirai Tour and it is also going to be Antonio's first show.
"However, we have great confidence in him," he said.
This is not Alick Macheso's first performance at the joint, formerly known as Club Lashers where he has built a wide fan base.
From New Life, Extrabasso, who left lasting impressions in the UK where he performed before capacity crowds, will tomorrow head for his hometown of Chitungwiza where he will play at Mubaiwa Hotel, formerly Nyamutamba Hotel.
He will then oblige families with a family show at Megga I Bar in Harare on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Machanja has dismissed as rumours that Macheso has hired a Chinese dancer to replace Kagomera.
This was after a photo appeared on the internet showing a Chinese dancer with Extrabasso on stage.
"These days people of all races and nationalities are attending our shows and they can simply jump on stage just for the fun of it, leading to some to rush to make unfounded conclusions.
"But the fact is that Antonio, and not any other dancer, has replaced Kagomera," he said.
