Chaminuka (Zimbabwe Superhero), is the brand new EP by battle-hardened cypher rapper mUnetsi this summer.

Since making his recording debut in 2007 with the underground classic, Muzukuru Wagogo,  mUnetsi, has undeniably become one of African rap music's hottest artists, thanks to an infinite streak of mixtapes and performances at prestigious gigs; and features on high-profile projects.

mUnetsi a.k.a SVR has proven his mettle over time  from destroying opponents in battle, beef, wax and performing live. Reputed for his top-of-the-dome freestyle skills, mUnetsi had been burning up stages for a decade before his first album even came out.

He returns this year with Chaminuka (Zimbabwe Superhero), a six-track EP which has been laid on tight production bedrock courtesy of his trusted men behind the boards, Kinda Cute and Marc Blaze. The rest of the work is left to the premier rapper â€" who flows bilingually in his native Shona and English â€" to train at, shot and strike.

The lead single off the EP, Number 1, has already caused a stir following the release of an impressively shot video by one of Africa's leading graphic film producers, Nqobizitha "Enqore" Mlilo.

mUnesti is indeed one of the most talented and socially-conscious hip-hop artists of his generation, and it has been unfortunate that his break-out album, Muzukuru Wagogo was banned off the Zimbabwean airwaves.

A fresh publishing and digital distribution agreement with The Peoples Hub/Boomslang Records means African hip-hop fans in Europe and America now have the chance to hear a man Zimbabweans have been rocking to for ages.

mUnetsi's  sound is a sort of collage that blends traditional musical instruments, hip-hop, jazz and soul. His rhymes, are all edges and sweeping chaff in true reformist fashion.

Grab the new EP and expect a screed against the disdainful self-image of Africans, loaded raps against ignorance, and from the EP's title, named after one of Zimbabwe's greatest liberation heroes, you know that he's not out for small fry.

The new EP can be bought on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp
