BULAWAYO businessman and music promoter Morgan Moyo is in the process of forming a band and has so far grouped together 10 instrumentalists.
He said they held auditions at Bulawayo Drive Inn two weeks ago and managed to identify 10 people who play instruments.
They are in the process of looking for vocalists.
"We are looking for talented vocalists who are disciplined, and passionate about music," he said.
Moyo said they are looking for about four vocalists and would hold auditions at the same venue, along Harare road next month.
He said they recently formed a promotions company, Ceremonious Promotions, through which they will promote not only his band, but others in the country in general and the city in particular.
Moyo said there had been a lot of cries from people in the city that promoters are doing nothing to promote local talent.
"We want to groom our own musicians and throw them into the deep end and see how they will fare. As a business person, I see it as my duty to promote local talent instead of waiting for people from without to come and do it for us," he said.
The former Black Umfolosi member said they would be running the band in a professional manner.
He said the instrumentalists they had recruited play two or more instruments so that there would not be a vacuum in case a member is away.
He said they were looking for fresh voices in the industry and the members should be between 18 years and 25 years of age.
"We feel these people have not been given an opportunity, so we want to give them a chance to have their talent exposed," Moyo said.
He said those who will make it into the band will be on a payroll even before they begin performing. As such a lot is expected of them.
