Bashimane born Mothusi Ndlovu is set to release his first video from his latest debut album VUKANI which was released November last year. Born Mothusi Ndlovu in Gwanda Bashimane says this video will set tongues wagging because of the concept and the message of the song. The title of the song is called Xenophobia-Benidakwe yini which takes us back to the year 2008 and remind us about an era that saw foreigners attacked and some killed for being a foreigner in South Africa.
Bashimane says he does not seek to offend anyone but will use the song as awareness to highlight the plight of foreigners in South Africa who continue to suffer the brutalities of xenophobia to this day. Just towards the end of last year a foreign man from Zimbabwe was burnt alive in one of the squatter camps for being Zimbabwean. It is such things that made Bashimane realise that something needs to be done and a message has to be sent to the perpetrators to regard foreigners as human beings.
Vukani the debut album has so far been received with joy and it promises to do well in the market. The album has an afro-fusion sound that caters for everyone. It's a 9 track album with hit songs like Nkulumane; Ekhaya; Africa and off course Xenophobia. The message in the album will surely take you to Bulawayo and reconnect you with your roots. It encourages Africans in Africa and those Africans in diaspora to be proudly African; to love who they are and embrace our being as God proudly created us.
The album is Marketed and distributed by Shilolo Music. Bashimane says there are still trying to get it into shops all over but those around Johannesburg can get a copy at BSM records at Corner Banket and Goldriech in Berea. In Bulawayo it's distributed by Victory Siyanqoba situated at ZCTU house and also you can get a copy at DJ Paul Records near chicken inn 86A Fort Street. Those in far lands beyond seas will soon be able to download music on iTunes soon.
Bashimane believes artist from Matabeleland are also good enough if only they could be given an ear and support. We are a talented people and we shall continue to do what we do until our people realise that we are also good to stand tall against any competition from outside; he said. He also said this is the beginning for him more and great music is yet to come. With such confidence and talent to write good music we are hopeful that he will also work towards dignifying our local music and see it recognised not only local but worldwide.
