POPULAR sungura musician Alick Macheso has taken in his maid, Adeline Hunidzarira, 21, as his third wife. Macheso yesterday sent a CHESO POWERED delegation that included his first wife Nyadzisai and his uncle to pay lobola for his latest flame.
The delegation returned to Chitungwiza at around 9pm last night claiming that everything went well.
Due to the network problems, reporters could not get the finer details of what transpired in Murewa but Nyadzisai suggested that a new chapter had been opened.
"Well, I am currently travelling asi zvafamba, I will furnish you with more details as soon as I get into Harare," said Nyadzisai last night. This makes her a unique woman ' she has embraced Macheso's two new wives. The talented musician, however, is never keen to discuss his private life in the media and yesterday denied the latest developments. Reporters found him at his Chitungwiza home in the afternoon with sources saying the delegation to Murewa had just left for the journey.
"I don't know anything about that. I just read it in the Press and I wonder where they got it from," said Macheso. He was referring to a story in a Sunday paper, which broke the news of the marriage.
Given Macheso's reluctance to discuss his love life in public, most of the information has to come from his close associates.
They alerted reporters of the marriage last Friday. But how did Adeline charm Macheso? Adeline, who reportedly hailed from Epworth where she is believed to have been staying with her sisters, was recruited as a maid by Nyadzisai.
This is when the roving eye of Macheso spotted her and he made his secret move, it has been claimed.
Unconfirmed reports say that Macheso's daughter, Sharon, suspected a relationship between his father and Adeline and confronted her. "Sharon was the first to smell a rat between Adeline and her father.
"She then confronted her but her mother (Nyadzisai) restrained her saying that there was nothing sinister about the maid and her father. She told Sharon to calm down but Sharon never liked the affair," revealed a family source. It is further claimed that the affair eventually came to light when Macheso would frequently leave the house in Adeline's company under the pretext that he was escorting her to see her sister in hospital.
This is when Nyadzisai was convinced that her daughter had been right after all! After bilateral talks with her husband, Nyadzisai is said to have blessed the marriage. "When Nyadzisai gave Macheso the greenlight to marry another wife, they approached Adeline's family in Epworth but this was met with resistance from her family," revealed the source.
In fact, Adeline's sisters took her away from Macheso and sent her to a "safe house". But Macheso relentlessly looked for his new-found love until he located her and organised her passage back to Epworth. In Epworth, Adeline is said to have received a thorough hiding at the hands of her sisters.
She called Macheso, and like a knight in shining armour, Macheso is said to have driven all the way to Epworth to save his damsel in distress.
The source also claimed that the incident got to Macheso's second wife, Tafadzwa who did not take it lightly. She is alleged to have stormed her husband's Chitungwiza house and hurled insults at Nyadzisai for allowing their 'daddy' to take in another younger wife.
"When Tafadzwa heard about the impending marriage, she went nuts and came to confront Amai Sharon (Nyadzisai) asking her why she had let their husband take in another woman. "She went there shouting and Mai Sharon was not amused," revealed our source. As Macheso refused to comment, we might as well take a cue from his lyrics: "Zvinhu zvizhinji zvinoonekwa nekufamba kwemakore."
