Sungura musician Alick Macheso has gone back to the drawing board to work on a new album due for release next month, just a few months after his album Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure) flopped.

In an interview with Standardlife&style, Macheso said all was set for the album that would be released in September.

"I have just decided to drop another album for my fans," said Macheso.

The musician refused to admit his latest album was below his usual standard.

"Releasing a new album does not mean the current release is not good. We release albums as and when we feel the time is right and we are convinced next month is the right time to drop in new material," said Macheso.

Macheso said the upcoming eight-track album would take fans down memory lane to his early days soon after quitting Khiama Boys.

"We are sampling a few songs from the album at our shows and we are convinced the new release will be a good offering to our fans," said Macheso.

Macheso's Kwatakabva Mitunhu album was described as a rushed project with reports suggesting he had tried to change some of the songs on the last minute to accommodate lead guitarist Noel Nyazanda who had returned to Orchestra Mberikwazvo after a stint with Sulumani Chimbetu.

Nyazanda has once again left Macheso for newly formed outfit Extra Kwazvose. It would be the first album to be released without old hands Nyazanda, drummer Obert Gomba and chanter Jonasi Kasamba.

One of the songs, Ane Bhora is popular at live shows.

Macheso said he explores social issues on the new album and would bring back the old beat that spurred Orchestra Mberikwazvo to fame.
