Long serving Black Spirits member, Namatai Mubariki-Chipanga has released her debut album that she worked on with her husband Charles Chipanga.
The album is titled 'Grace Moments'.
Namatai, who together with her husband Charles, were members of the Black Spirits, managed to release her debut album two years after parting ways with Oliver Mtukudzi.
The artist says her new album, Grace Moments, has given her new hope and the chance to grow as an artist.
Tracks to look forward include Jehovah, Tonamata and Gore Rangu, among others.
All the instruments were played by Jairos Hambahamba and Jazz guitarist, Brian Nhanhanga of Too Open.
Namatai says most of the songs are a departure from the genres they used to sing during her days with Mtukudzi.
"This is a project that I have done as a solo artist, but I have done other projects with various musicians since my departure from Oliver Mtukudzi. And I also believe it was time to grow and start my own thing. We were not growing as individual artists and we decided it was high time we left and start our own thing," said Namatai.
Before her solo debut project, Namatai has done a number of musical projects including the live DVD album with Charles.
"I have also assisted Namatai in producing this album and she has also been part of the Hub musical project," said Charles.
Namatai and Charles had over the years become permanent features in the Black Spirits line-up until two years ago when the duo left.
For all her effort, fame and talent, Namatai firmly believes that Mtukudzi is her mentor and the 10-track album bears testimony. She joined the Black Spirits in 2003 where she did most of the backing vocals for Mtukudzi.
Between 2002 and 2003, she worked with Ernest Tanga Wekwa Sando before collaboration with Africa Revenge and Prudence katomeni.
After leaving Mtukudzi, Namatai featured on her husband's album 'Prayer Expose' (Namatai) on the song Gore Rangu.
