American Rn B musician, Robert Kelly will headline this year's edition of the Harare International Carnival musical night that is expected to be held in May.
The carnival will be held from May 16 to May 25 at different venues in Harare, where different cultural events are expected to take place, before the cultural fete explodes into the grand finale - the musical night - that will be held on the last day of the art fete
R Kelly, who would be making his debut appearance in Zimbabwe, is expected to hold two shows, at the Harare International Conference and another one at the National Sports Stadium, where he would be joined by a coterie of local artists on May 25.
The presence of the American singer at the carnival, now running in its second year, is expected to further bolster the art fete, which last year failed to live up to billing, despite having received rave previews.
In an interview Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer, Karikoga Kaseke, said this year's carnival will be bigger and better than the previous years, after the authority worked on last year's mistakes.
"Last year's carnival, proved to be a learning curve for us, considering that it was our first time to hold such an event. We have since worked on our faults, and we are going to have one of the best carnivals in the region," he said.
With more than 20 countries expected to attend, already expectations are high that the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority planned carnival will ignite a citizenry pride with an array of performances that will include the Miss Carnival beauty pageant, a street party, the musical night and the mother of all shows-the Samba Night, featuring a bevy of Brazilian dancers.
