Upcoming musician Jacob Moyana has hit back at sungura musician Alick Macheso who accused him of fanning the use of vulgar language in local music.

During a presentation of Coca Cola awards for 2013 outstanding songs in Harare last week, Macheso blasted Moyana for his song "Munotidako".

The Macharangwanda hit-maker said Moyana's song was not morally correct adding the musician should have considered his target market before releasing the song. Macheso said the song was likely to harm children's morals.

However Moyana yesterday hit back at Macheso saying he was a misinformed artiste.

"He talks about morals but his song 'Cynthia' is in bad taste. What morals are there when you sing about shaking breasts off the bra? If he sings: "Zunza mukaka wapoya" and thinks he is upholding morals, he has a big problem.

"The way he is interpreting my song shows that he has a dirty mind and he is not qualified to attack others.

"I have respect for Macheso but I feel it is the job of the Censorship Board, not a fellow musician, to determine the morality of arts products."

Many people have interpreted Moyana's with vulgar connotations but the musician said dirty minds were jeopardising his song.

"Munotidako' is a proper Shona word that has been misinterpreted by mischievous people to taint our language. Go to Masvingo, especially in the rural areas and see if anyone will laugh at you when you say that word."

Loosely translated, the word means "you want us there".

Macheso attacked Moyana and some dancehall musicians that are using explicit language in their songs.
