THE England-based African gospel music group, Swindon Gospel Choir has released its first ever CD in Britain, a senior official said yesterday.
The CD entitled You are the same is expected to take gospel music lovers by storm, Pastor Stephen Mpofu, told The ZimDiaspora.com.
Swindon Gospel Choir with 15 members is a multicultural African Christian choir comprising of Zimbabweans, South Africans, Swazis and Nigerians. Some members are from Assemblies of God and Christendom Pentecostal Church. The founder and producer of the group is Pastor K Mpofu of Christendom Pentecostal Church.
The new CD was recorded at Swindon College, in Swindon, a small time about 70 miles south-west of London, the British capital.
However, the bubbling CD was mixed in South Africa by reputable music engineer Shadrack Ndlovu who boasts of recording award-winning Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors, Hlengiwe Mhlaba and many more other successful artists. Those who have listened to the new CD say it is unique, and expect it to be a hit among gospel lovers.
"We had several high flyers in the music who have contributed to the success of this group Nathan Simmonds the director of music at Bethel Apostolic and Sheila Harrods the director of Kentwood choir in Swindon," said Pastor Mpofu.
"We had the first opportunity to perform in a packed theatre in December 2013 at Wyvern theatre and it was an amazing performance. Thanks to Sheila Harrods who gave us that opportunity. That was the highlight of the year," the powerful speaking pastor said.
"We have come this far by faith and with a lot of support from local churches, family members and friends. It has not been easy but by the grace of God we are were are today and still going forward. We are blessed to work with Phephile Zwane (Mrs P Allen) who is a recording artist and has released more than 3 albums in the UK. Everyone has contributed to this work. The commitment and dedication of the members made this possible, some had come from far, spend money on transport but they held on. SGC-Indumiso, God bless you," he added.
"We hope you will be blessed with our music. As you support us in buying our music we will be giving back to the community. We are one the corporate sponsors for Food Bank in Swindon. For every CD sold a percentage of the money will be going to feed someone. Our aim will be to minister to you spiritually and at the same time put food on someone's table," said Pastor Mpofu.
