Ace sungura musician Alick Macheso  will this Friday celebrate his 46th birthday at Andy Miller Hall in the capital.

The Bindura-born musician will forget his legal battles and drown himself in massive celebrations that will feature the country's prominent musicians.Dendera exponent Sulumani Chimbetu,  superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Peter Moyo, Diana Samkange, Soul Jah Love and Progress Chipfumo will be part of the celebrations.

This is the first time Macheso has made his birthday celebrations a public affair. Traditionally he celebrates his birthdays at private events with his family.

The potentially explosive birthday bash comes at a time when all eyes are on Macheso following his messy break-up with his estranged wife 'Tafadzwa' Fortunate Mapako.

All his shows that were held after the legal woes have been sold out and the birthday bash is certainly no exception.

The birthday bash is the brainchild of music promoter Chris Musabayana of Ghetto Fabolous Entertainment.

Musabayana and Macheso have had a great working relationship that goes beyond a decade.

Macheso  has a strong rural background, having being raised at a farm for the better half of his life.

He was born on June 10 1968 at Bindura Hospital  and  was a farm boy in Shamva where he taught himself how to play the banjo.

His musical history was also buoyed by  his membership of Nyau dancers, an inevitable practisce in his culture.

Macheso's birthday bash will also coincide with his two decades as a music composer .

He was groomed by Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria and was a member of the Khiama Boys before defecting and starting his own band, the Orchestra Mberikwazvo.

His decorated career has been riddled with controversy, but he has managed to stay afloat and went on to release scorching albums over the years.
