ORGANISERS of the Heroes Splash gala have announced that there will be no gala to commemorate the lives of fallen and living heroes this year due to financial constraints.
The gala, which is rotated in the country's 10 provinces, had been pencilled to take place on August 10 in Plumtree.
In an interview, Major Anyway Mtambudzi said financial constraints had forced them to cancel this year's gala.
"There is no gala this year because there is no money," he said.
Mtambudzi, however, could not shed more light on the commemorations to be held in the various provinces around the country.
A number of artistes including South African based musicians had been tipped to perform in Plumtree.
Among the artistes whose performances had been confirmed are gospel musician Tholakele Ngomayabo, Ben Masuku, Marvelous Sibanda and maskandi artiste, Mxolisi Mavundla, popularly known as Zinjaziyamluma.
The Heroes Splash gala have seen a number of seasoned and budding artistes sharing the stage during the all night music concerts that have moved from the big cities and towns to small towns and rural stadia.
Among the seasoned artistes that have become crowd pullers are Sulumani Chimbetu, Sandra Ndebele, Jeys Marabini, Iyasa, Alick Macheso, and Jah Prayzah among others. The galas cater for all music genres and have seen hundreds of fans thronging stadiums to be part of them.
