James Blunt lights up Harare

English artiste James Blunt treated Zimbabweans to a world class act on Tuesday night in Harare, as part of his Moon Landing Tour.
The Harare International Conference Centre was filled to the brim by music fans, mostly from the white community, who did not want to miss the opportunity to see Blunt's first live performance in Zimbabwe.
For two hours, the witty British singer-songwriter, whose real name is James Hillier Blount, kept the crowd spellbound with a performance full of energy and class.
He gave people a treat of old songs and new songs.
When the British singer came to the end of the show, the excited crowd could not just let him leave the stage.
Blunt had to do three more songs before pulling the plug on the riveting concert.
So spectacular was the performance that everybody left the venue convinced that they had got full value for money.
That was despite the fact that tickets for the concert went for between $30 and $100.
The serial hitmaker, who rose to international prominence with the release of his debut studio album Back to Bedlam as well as hit singles like You're Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover, said he was excited to perform in Zimbabwe for the first time.
"This tour started in China and there were these dressed-up dancers. Well you just have to use your imagination.
"But tell you what all those other performances were in preparation for this one," Blunt said, sending the crowd into laughter, claps and screams.
Blunt, who will be celebrating his 41st birthday on February 22, came to the Harare International Conference Centre after holding five shows in South Africa.
The Zimbabwean concert was his last in Africa.
