The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is negotiating with Jamaican artist Jah Cure  to come and participate in ZTA's celebrity host programme.

ZTA Chief Executive officer (CEO) Karikoga Kaseke confirmed the coming of Jamaican artist Jah Cure during a press briefing.

"Yes it is true that we want to bring him in. We are currently negotiating the money we are going to pay him. The first time he wanted $40 000 and we are still negotiating with him. The last time my team spoke to him he was down to $30 000. I will not pay anything more than $20 000. Not even $21 000," he said.

"He is coming in under our celebrity host programme. We will make sure that he comes and the fee includes accommodation," he said.

Kaseke went on to explain how the celebrity host programme works.

"A celebrity programme is all about bringing in a celebrity well-known in his country so that he can market ours. By virtue of him being known in his country people will follow his moves and coming here will just promote tourism on our part as people would want to know more about the country he would have visited," he said.

"The celebrity host programme is meant for foreigners not local artists. Our locals can be hosted in other countries under their celebrity host programmes. We also try to travel with our celebrities when we go around. But it is not under the host programme," he said.
